Crafts

January, 2013

Hard to believe it's already the January 10, right?  One of my New Year's resolutions is to get back to making some of my other crafts, both for myself and for others.  Here are the two pillows I made last summer for my daughter for Christmas.   She had seen the patterns in my online embroidery pattern library last spring and did a little wishful thinking aloud.  "Ask and you shall receive."

This was only the 2nd or 3rd pillow I'd ever made, so it's not as professional as I'd like it to be, but it's still quite pretty IRL.  The colors are very vivid against the gold background.  The fabric is a silk-lookalike medium weight upholstery fabric

Close up detail. The design took nearly 8 hours to stich out.

I used a different shade of blue for this one.

Another 8-hour stitchout.

Why have boring borders when you can have tulips?

Thank you for joining me today!

Happy crafting!

December, 2012

Now that Christmas Day has come and gone, I can share what I made for my mother and mother-in-law, which are embroidered pillows using the lovely Viking embroidery machine my DH gave to me for my birthday a couple of years ago.  I haven't spent nearly the time with it that I'd like because making cards keeps getting in the way, but I hope to spend more time with it in the coming year.

Note: The names have been blurred out for privacy reasons.

This one was for my mother.  It is dated 12/25/12.

This machine can do most any shape or type of embroidery stitch imaginable.  Of course I used hearts for her.

This was for my MIL.  Her mother and sister are both named Rose.

I hope they liked them!

Holy smokes, these pillows are AMAZING! Love the embroidery, and also the trim around each pillow. Luxurious, indeed.
