IBS New Release - Basic Backgrounds IV and Guy Sentiments

Hello!

Today we are showcasing the first of our new line of Inspired By Stamping stamps which will be available for purchase August 10!

For today I made two cards to show how versatile these stamps are.

The sentiment is from "Guy Sentiments" and has been shadow stamped with a tan ink slightly darker than the cardstock.  I sanded the embossed section of the base layer and ran a pair of scissors around the inked edges to give a slightly distressed appearance.  For the sentiment panel I first cut the shape using a Spellbinders Label 18 die and then stamped it with Inspired By Stamping's "Fancy Label 18" stamp.  This set has stamps that coordinate with every size of the die set, plus some decorative flourishes as well!

The little bits of faux washi tape were made using the IBS "Washi Tape." stamp set.  It's such a versatile set!  They are held together with a teensy little paper clip.

A couple of grommets and some twine complete this masculine card.

Well almost.

I finished the inside using one of the new sets (more on that one tomorrow!) and the recently released "Happy Occasions Sentiments."

My second card uses another of the "Guy Sentiments" stamps and also one from the "Basic Backgrounds IV" collection, both available on the 10th.

I embossed the base layer with stripes, stitched around the edge of the banner with real stitching and used a navy marker to apply faux stitches around the base layer.  Tip: I discovered recently that real stitching on a dry embossed piece will distort it.  For those who sew, think "lettuce edge."  Not attractive on a guy card.

The sentiment panel was made with three layers of cardstock put through the IBS Fancy Labels 2 Die, and I sponged the white piece while it was still in the die; I then cut on my Silhouette Cameo one of the arrows from last month's new release "Arrows" and glittered it using black glitter before adhering it to the sentiment.  Joanna is kind enough to include FREE cut files with many of her stamp sets!

Thank you so much for joining me today, and I urge you to go visit the rest of the Design Team to see what they have prepared for you using these wonderful stamp sets!

Charmed Rosette

Hello!!

Today's project is a special one that's going to be given to my daughter.  Last Christmas I was doodling around in the craft room and made a rosette out of paper cones and decorated it with feathers, a shrink plastic image (colored with Copics), snowflakes and ribbon.  OK, if you insist, here it is.

I joked about how she'd probably keep it hanging until I gave her a summery one.  Well...it's still hanging and I figured I needed to give her a new one more suitable to the season.  This one is a scored and folded rosette.  Sorry for the blurriness, I did my best to sharpen the pics but the light just wasn't cooperative in the living room, and using the flash would have ruined it.  Well, ruined it worse than the slight blurriness.  At any rate, here 'tis.

Hmmm...I think I'm going to fire my living room from having any more photos taken in it.

To start off with, and in keeping with this week's Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge (the theme of which is "Good to be Green"), the chains on both ends are recycled from old necklaces bought at the junk store.

The two little gold-embossed stamps are from Inspired By Stamping's Summer Postcards Add On set

A bow using hand-dyed seam binding, and a shimmery butterfly using fantasy film and fantasy fabric melded (or melted?) together.

This is a banner using turquoise crafter's foil and stamped with IBS Vintage Banners and a sentiment from the Arrows set, also from the Inspired By Stamping store.  I swiped on some white gesso then rubbed most of it off, taking some of the turquoise color with it and giving it a more aged appearance.  That little bitty spool of thread came from a real sewing kit I bought at an antiques store last year.

A little golden shoe button, wiped with some black ink to tone down the shine, is perched on the end.

The centerpiece consists of pearls and gems glued to a large button adhered to a rosette of IBS Scallop Border Crochet Trim.  This was placed on top of a shimmery die cut doily on top of a second, and very delicate, doily die cut.

And that about wraps this little gift up.

Oh wait, I almost forgot the charms at the bottom.  I made the circular one using a digital collage image and resin and added the scissors to go with the teeny tiny spool of thread.  A few pearls sprinkled about finish things off.

Thank you for joining me today, and I hope you are gearing up for a lovely, summery, crafty weekend!

Happy crafting!

IBS New Release - Octagons and Arrows

Hello!

Today we are showcasing two new Inspired By Stamping sets, Octagons and Arrows, which will be available for purchase on July 10!

My card uses the super cool cut files that Joanna includes (for FREE) with many of her stamp sets.  The Octagon background, Arrow, and sentiment (from the Arrows set) were all cut on my Silhouette Cameo.  No fussy cutting for me!  So if you have a die cutting machine, just know that these stamp sets, which are already uber versatile, become even more so with their FREE cut files.

And did I say the files are included for FREE?  Heh.

I heat embossed the little octagons (which are the punch outs from the background piece) as well as the arrow.

Here's another view which includes one of the little hearts that I painted with red shimmer paint.  I LOVE that the sentiment also has a cut file because I didn't have a paper punch that would have fit it properly.

A couple of rhinestones finish this simple but sweet card off.

Thank you so much for joining me today, and I urge you to go visit the rest of the Design Team to see what they have prepared for you using these wonderful stamp sets!
