Happy New Year! (And a challenge for you!)

Hello and good morning, crafty friends!

I want to wish you right now a healthy, happy, and CRAFTY New Year!  May we all get as much crafting time as we can stand, and may all of our significant others be as tolerant as saints when we disappear into our craft rooms.  Hear, hear.

The New Year is already starting off on the right foot with an entirely new and exciting challenge over at Tuesday Alchemy.  Challenge #47 is all about Hopes, Dreams and Resolutions, and your project must show your hopes, dreams &/or resolutions for the new year. Easy enough, right?  You KNOW you have at least one hope for the New Year.  Or dream. Or resolution.  I know I do.  Before I go further, let me tell you about the prizes involved:

Guylous
$10 GC
7 Digital Images

So run, don't walk, on over to Tuesday Alchemy and let us see what you can dream up!

My card this time is a resolution, one that I've been working on my whole life.

Yes, that's right, patience.  I have to say I tend to get impatient from time to time and have to force myself to slow down and try to relax.  With traffic, noise, crowds....my weight.  You get the idea.  I can't have everything my way all of the time, all at once (though that doesn't stop me from trying), so I try to just settle down and let things work themselves out.  Patience.  Must work on that.  AGAIN.

This was a simple card this time.  CAS.  No heavy embellishments, no multiple layers upon layers.  Sometimes you just have to do things simply.  I started out with a single base layer, then added a wide strip of patterned paper from Echo Park and a strip of red punched with a MS punch.

The image, Cat and the Fishbowl from Guylou's Inimitability, was first cut out with a circle die and then was colored with watercolor pencils, and the fish was colored, fussy cut, and then glazed with Glossy Accents and adhered on a dimensional to pop it up a bit.  The cat actually looks cross-eyed with the fish popped up like that.  I colored the little "rocks" with Gelly Roll  pens in various colors, and then  I glazed kitty's eyes with Glossy Accents and put a couple of dots of Ranger black Enamel Accents in the centers. Then I adhered the image layer onto two graduating  layers of CS.

I colored the bowl and base ever so slightly with blue pencil, but I can see here that it doesn't show up very well.  Hmm...

The sentiment is computer generated in a speech bubble and has been popped up on dimensionals.

And that, dear friends, is today's card.  Have patience (ha!), I will be back with my more elaborately embellished pieces now that the new year has begun and things are starting fresh again.

Thank you for stopping by today, and here's wishing you a wonderful, happy, safe and FUN new year!

Happy crafting!!
