Take It To Heart

Hello, and good morning!

Today's card sets the tone for the next few weeks, that of Valentines Day.   I love hearts.  I love the word "heart" (it's a pretty word), and I love the shape.  I have hearts all over my house in various media.  The creative members of my family always make sure to include at least one on every project we make.  Most of the mugs from which I drink tea have them in one way or another.  I just love hearts.  So it was fitting that I give a heart-decorated card to my DH last year on our anniversary.

Note: Today's card is from the archive as I spent all day today crafting with my daughter and playing with my new Copics.  Didn't have time to fashion a new card.  Tomorrow, though!

Anyhoo, on with the card.
Is that an in-your-face card or what?  Did I also mention that I love red?  The more red, the better.  The challenge for this card was that it should be monochromatic, and I think this fits the bill.  The first layer was stamped with a lace patterned background stamp.  The image was embossed onto white CS with black ep, sponged with three colors of ink: yellow, pumpkin and red, then cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  There is a strip of black glitter paper to the left of the side panel, and the negative piece that was left over was adhered to the inside, though it's not visible here.  The greeting was also embossed, then fussy cut and popped up.

A few rhinestones, a ribbon bow, and a black pearl for the bird's eye finishes this card.  It's deceptively simple, but quite ooh-la-la with all that spicy red and black, don't you think?

Thank you for joining me today, and I wish you plenty of hearts in YOUR day!

Happy crafting!

Wow. Words escape me. This is my favourite out of all the ones I've seen so far today. I finally think I'm caught up on what I've missed over here. You've been a very busy lady.
