Today's card was made for the lovely challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room whose theme this week is "Elegance." I'll say. Check this photo out. It's a cake, and it makes me hungry to look at it. There are only two colors, but what a beautiful, elegant effect. We were to use the colors plus ribbon/bow and a flower.
And here's my card.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this card. The roses are so "wedding cake-y" and look almost good enough to eat. The three panels are from the K & Co. Watercolor Bouquet stack, and while this paper already had mottled colors and water droplet effects, I stamped it with SU En Francais and Medallion stamps as well before cutting the panels. This gave a very subtle bit of extra depth to the paper.
You can see the additional stamping a bit better here and in the other closeup pictures. The roses are made with the SB Rose Creations die, then glittered with CI Resplendence Angel Dust which gives them a gorgeous sparkle. The tiny flowers are SU Boho Blossoms.
I added teeny, tiny pearls to the light blue doily around the edge, and larger pearls to the insides of the Boho Blossoms flowers as well as to the baby booties.
I stamped the image in Versafine Smokey Grey as black would have been too harsh, then colored it with the Copics that Santa brought me for Christmas. I LOVE them, and this time I used the proper paper for them and couldn't believe the difference. Flourishes Classic White Cardstock will be my go-to paper for coloring with Copics from now on.
I added one of my smaller custom-made stick pins to the bow.
The sentiment was inked around the edges after being cut out with the cutest little Dienamics Mini Wavy Pennants die.
This picture shows the depth I gained by popping up both doilies on dimensionals. You can also barely see the silver leaves next to the bottom rose. They don't jump out and shout at you, but they add a nice finishing touch to the rose. Here's another picture of the centerpiece.
I hope you've enjoyed another picture-heavy post. Simpler cards need fewer pictures, but the all-out cards need to be 'splained, Lucy. Thank you for taking the time to join me today. Here's wishing you a lovely day!
Happy crafting!

Very pretty! Those flowers are so life-like and "wedding cake-y"! haha
Oh my shabby goodness, what a precious baby card! So unexpected and beautiful! What a great job with your coloring! Thanks for sharing with us in the Tea Room :)
This is beautiful! You've definitely captured the essence of that elegant photo with those gorgeous flowers and dainty doily die cuts. I never think about using tiny die cut flowers like that, but it's so pretty! I'll be trying that real soon. :) I especially like how you stamped the dp. It's so subtle, it's barely noticeable, but I think that's because it's so perfect, it just "belongs" there. Oh, and your stick pin...FAB! ~Hugs, Cheryl
