Little Angel

Hello and good morning!

It's hard to believe that we're in the middle of November.  Christmas is just around the corner and I'm nowhere near ready.  And I'm not yet in the mood, either, but it could be because we haven't had much cold weather yet.  I'm ready for the COLD; however, the temps are supposed to be in the low 70's for Thanksgiving, so I guess I'll fake it by having hot cocoa with marshmallows anyway, even if I have to turn the a/c on.

Today's card was commissioned for a little 5-year old girl's upcoming birthday.  I HAD to use the Winter Fibi and Lilli set from The Craft's Meow because little Fibi (or is it Lilli?) is so darned CUTE in her angel costume, and aren't all 5-year old girls little angels anyway?  I know mine was, hence, the image.  (She really was.  And still is.)

I grin every time I see these little kitties.

I've shined and glittered up her wings a bit with white Liquid Pearls and Dazzling Diamonds, and I colored her with watercolor pencils.  Added a bit of gold glitter to her halo.

I had a piece of white CS onto which I had embossed a design several weeks ago which I used for the square layer.  I had inked up the folder which gave the resulting paper that marbled appearance.  I couldn't use it on the project that day but saved it "just in case," and today was the perfect opportunity to use it.

And today I did something I haven't done before - I stitched on my card for the first time!  My craft room is too small to allow me to sew and create cards at the same time - the chair won't fit at both tables, so all this time I've had to either stamp, or sew, but not both.  I finally set my machine back up and put a small stool in front of it and managed to get the card stitched.  The stool is way too high to use for real sewing, but it's fine for the little bit that cards require, which tickles the daylights out of me.  Stitching cards has been something I've wanted to do for the longest time, and now I can!  It's a whole new frontier for me...

At any rate, I stitched it in a double wandering stitch with gold metallic thread, as this week's photo inspiration challenge over at IBSIC is to use pink/white/gold.

IBSIC #35
The greeting was computer generated, and the ribbon and rhinestones are from my stash.  The cupcake "charm" is a Shrinky Dink piece that I stamped and colored before punching with  an SU scallop circle punch, shrunk it, then colored a little more afterward by painting with Creative Inspirations paints before popping it up on dimensionals.  Pardon the red heart - I applied Aleene's Paper Glaze to it and it hadn't finished drying by the time I took the picture, and I had done it over two hours before!  It'll be completely transparent in a few more hours.

And that, dear friends, is today's card.   Thank you so much for joining me, and I hope you have a lovely autumn day.  Happy crafting!
